Email Surveys

Turn one survey question into provider-ready email HTML.

Embed a published question in lifecycle campaigns, post-purchase follow-ups, and support check-ins. Recipients answer in the email or on your hosted form — responses stay tied to the right contact.

How it works

Two steps in the builder. One HTML block in your ESP.

Email surveys turn a published question into merge-tag-aware HTML. Recipients click an answer in the email, open the hosted form when needed, and responses flow into the same dashboard as Feedback Links.

Link, question, language, and ESP in one place.

Choose the shareable link that receives responses, pick one published question and language, then select your email provider so Encatch can prefill recipient merge tags where supported.

  • Export is blocked if the link is inactive, expired, or signed.
  • Unsupported question types stay out of the picker — only email-safe types appear.
  • Provider setup guides link to official merge-field documentation when available.

Email providers

Merge tags that match how your ESP personalizes.

Auto-configured providers get a verified URL-safe contact_email expression. Everyone else can supply and test a manual recipient expression before launch.

Klaviyo, HubSpot, Mailchimp, Customer.io, Iterable, Braze, and more ship with prefilled tags.
Manual providers include in-builder notes on URL-safe encoding and test sends.
Exported HTML keeps ESP syntax — pipes, braces, and percent signs survive export intact.

ESP-aware merge tags

Auto-configured providers get a verified URL-safe contact_email expression. Manual providers let you test your own recipient syntax before send.

Answer behavior

Direct capture, prefill, or hosted entry — by question type.

Not every question behaves the same in email. Encatch picks the right flow so recipients either answer inline, land on a prefilled survey, or follow a clear call-to-action.

Direct capture records NPS, CSAT, ratings, and single-choice clicks when partial save is on.
Prefill types open the hosted survey with selections already applied.
Long text, numbers, and addresses show a preview plus Answer in survey →.

Quick workflow

From published form to ESP-ready HTML.

Build once in Encatch, paste into Klaviyo, HubSpot, Mailchimp, or any ESP — merge tags stay literal until send time.

01

Publish a form and create a link

Enable Link & email distribution and set up an active shareable link — the same foundation as Feedback Links.

02

Open the Email tab

In Link & email distribution, start a new email survey or edit a saved template.

03

Configure setup and variables

Pick the question, language, ESP, appearance, and contact/context mappings for your campaign.

04

Copy HTML into your ESP

Paste the block into your template, send a real test campaign, and confirm merge tags expand correctly.

Everything included

Built for lifecycle email, not generic embeds.

Email surveys sit on top of shareable links and user identification — so outbound campaigns get the same response model as in-product feedback.

One question in the inbox

Embed a single published question as interactive HTML — no separate survey host required for supported types.

Identity on every link

Map contact_email, contact traits, and context_ variables so responses attach to the right person.

Direct answer capture

Rating, NPS, CSAT, and choice clicks can record a response before the hosted survey when partial save is enabled.

Editable HTML export

Syntax-highlighted editor with live preview, reset to generated HTML, and copy or download for your ESP.

Email-specific appearance

Answer color and optional question text separate from your hosted survey theme.

Reusable templates

Save, rename, duplicate, and edit configurations under Saved email templates on the Email tab.

A little more detail

Email Surveys, answered

Common questions about exporting survey HTML for email service providers.

What is an Encatch email survey?

An HTML block generated from one published question on your feedback form. You paste it into an email service provider template so recipients can answer in the email or on the hosted survey, with responses tied to contact parameters when configured.

What do I need before creating an email survey?

A published form, Link & email distribution enabled, and at least one active shareable link. Create the link first in Feedback Links, then open the Email tab under Link & email distribution.

Which email providers are supported?

Encatch includes auto-configured URL-safe contact_email merge tags for providers such as Klaviyo, HubSpot, Mailchimp, Customer.io, Iterable, and Braze. Other ESPs use manual merge expressions you verify in a test send before launch.

Your next step

Meet recipients in the channel they already open every day.

Pair Email Surveys with Feedback Links and user identification — then paste provider-ready HTML into your next lifecycle or post-purchase campaign.
